3D Simulation-based Support Systems in PLM Solution for Offshore and Marine Industry―Which Way is for Vietnam’s Shipbuilder?

Abstract: From concept to deployment, the shipbuilding process re-quires innovative solutions that will increase efficiency, lower costs, and provide useful supports throughout the life cycle of the ship. World shipyards’ experience with new ship construction and production help us to meet chal-lenging requirements. This paper will evaluate the advan-tages of the 3D simulation-based support system imple-mented for the small to medium sized shipyards of Vietnam in the ship production process. Through the new simulation-based technology, Vietnam’s shipbuilders can shorten the time to bide the new projects with the competi-tive price, build profitably the ship with the high quality, and obey strictly international regulations especially in handing over the ship on time.
